Energy Star Homes
HFHLPC homes are built to Energy Star 3 Version standards. Energy Star homes are typically 20-30% more energy efficient than homes built to standard residential building code.
Features of an Energy Star home include:
Energy Efficient Insulation
High-Performance Windows
Tight Building Envelope and HVAC Ducts
Energy Efficient Heating Equipment
Energy Efficient Appliances
Certification and rater evaluations/inspections
HFHLPC is grateful for our local partnership with Shaw Solar for reduced cost installation of Roof Mount PV Solar Systems on our newly built homes. This provides tremendous energy savings for HFHLPC’s new homeowners.
HFHLPC is also grateful for the partnership with the Whirlpool Corporation through Habitat’s BuildBetter with Whirlpool program. This program supports the availability of affordable, climate-resilient homes through the donation of energy-efficient appliances for Habitat homes.
Construction Site Volunteering
HFHLPC is seeking enthusiastic volunteer groups and individuals for our 2024 construction season. No tools or skills needed, we train on-site.
Please review the Construction Volunteer Manual and Safety Video for detailed information on expectations and safety protocol. Information specific to the work each day will be provided on site. Colorado Law does not allow volunteers under 16 years of age on construction sites. Volunteers who are 16 or 17-years-old cannot perform tasks such as working on the roof, using power tools and getting on ladders or scaffolding. All volunteers must sign a current Release and Waiver of Liability form before they will be allowed on site.
For inquiries or to sign up to volunteer on a construction site, please submit details through the Volunteer Inquiry form linked below. Please email completed Release and Waiver of Liability forms to volunteer@habitatlaplata.org.
